pH of Bottled Water: Why does it matter?
More importantly, the main issue is the effects that the plastic bottles have on the pH of the water. The term pH is simply the concentration of hydrogen ions in a diluted solution and ranges from a 0 to 14 with the human body located at a pH of 7.38. In water with a high the pH, we find greater levels of alkaline. In water with a low pH, the more acidic the water will be.
Drinking a water with a low pH is not recommended due to the various harmful effects it has on the body. These effects are associated with lead poisoning, eye and skin irritation, and gastrointestinal issues. It is important to consider these effects and examine your bottle water brand or local tap water to see if you are potentially affected by these detrimental effects.
